Clean Oceans Mission St. Mural

The mission of this mural project is to raise awareness about the negative effect of plastic pollution in our oceans and promote clean oceans. It is the largest mural in Santa Cruz history at 400ft long. This was a community-funded project with additional help from a Santa Cruz City Art Grant.
For the mural concept, artists worked with students from Bay View Elementary. Students learned about the harm of plastic pollution in our oceans and then chose the species most affected by plastic pollution to be illustrated in the mural. Students also assisted in the project by painting background colors on the mural.
